Concepts, Principles and Skills in WRTC Courses

Writing Rhetoric and Technical Communication courses focus on developing proficiency in the use of language and communication skills among students. Through pursuing WRTC major I expect to develop both theoretical and practical skills in the realm of language and communication. Genre courses in this discipline will help me learn how to identify genre of texts and how to analyze text from various fields in order to understand how knowledge is made. Through the course on web design I expect to learn how to evaluate, develop, revise and maintain a website. I also expect to learn about the ethical and legal issues that confront technical communicators in the field and their implications.

The course on organization communication will enable me to explore the formal and informal communication systems that are commonly used in government industries and business. This course will also help me to understand the role of communication in social construction of organizations with hierarchical structures. I also intended to grasp the principle used to structure language used to communicate scientific knowledge and in presenting and defending a point of view. The WRTC courses will also assist me to learn how to structure communication to suit target cultures and international setting and context. Through these WRTC courses I also look forward to sharpening my skills in collecting data through primary and secondary research. In addition I look forward to learning how to use new media and modern digital technology in Persuading and communicating to different audience.
