Management Information Technology Personal Statement
After completion of my bachelor’s degree in Literature from Umm Al Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia ion 2007, I worked shortly as an English teacher in one of the Medical Science International academies in the Makkah. This was quite a rewarding and interesting job but I decided to follow my innermost interests, to study information science. I enrolled for Management Information Technology (MIT) at DePaul University. Am a fulltime masters student doing exceptionally well in the fields since I have a current Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.55. I am set to graduate in the 2010 Spring Quarter. The reason I decided to tale the Information technology route is because I have great future plans and keen interest in information technology particularly the management systems. I regard communication technology as a very important tool in IT. When it’s used to manage other business systems, it becomes a classic technology.
I have loved to work with the internet, design technology, multimedia and other computer systems. During my masters study I have also demonstrated keen interest in teaching fellow student the computer and information details in world wide web designing and management. This is very important to me because it encourages me that there are even more people out there who are interested in the same fields and greatly appreciates and understand the significance of the information sector. The current corporate world of businesses is overriding barriers like geographical boundaries in pursuit of excellence. The current economy is embracing changes to international standards and globalization in on the increase opening up opportunities everywhere. For this reason, I intend to acquire vocational management skills in MIT curriculum so that am better placed to manage global business and also be able to work in other countries with different culture altogether.
My interest in computers and information technology has not been constrained in to the class-work and college life. With the knowledge I have gained in the field of IT, I have been doing part-time computer related business with the help of my family. This is what has completely inspired me by giving the clearest perspective of the way certain things function in the worlds of computers and the ways to run a business. Writing the business plan seemed extremely difficult but after a six month period of research, I was able to come up with a better plan. I was overwhelmingly satisfied by my achievements since I had learnt something many people have not, fear or are unable to do. The business has taught me how to manage time, how to carry out research, how to budget, balancing of my duties, managing greater responsibilities and above all delegation of duties to ensure the job is done faster and effectively.
Growth and development of any organization including the non- profit making organizations is a major indication of success. For these reason I intend to enlarge the scope of my job by taking a PhD in Information technology and become a successful individual with a satisfying career. When I have attained this, I believe I will be able to build up a dependable and determined professional management team to profitably incorporate objectives of the company and concentrate my efforts to accomplish the mission of the company or business I will be working which is to improve the experience of employees and thus gain economic and political bargaining power to realize a truly successful organizational management. My current concentration is within the field of information technology and computing. As I keep on increasing my knowledge, IT management is increasingly expanding its responsibility in the vocational studies. This means there is improved and still improving the way to obtain and decimate critical information to the correct people. Determination is a very critical aspect of an individual, businesses and companies especially in the current liberal world of globalization. As I take this study, I realize that technology is spreading far and wide. Even remotest areas have internet - a reminder that even this remote place is not immune to globalization.
During the management of my small business, I realized that it was extremely important to get my systems integrates into the user-friendly multi-media front end. This is s forms that fundamentally essential in the efficient management of cybercafés and estate agencies. Through my small business and organizing clubs in college, I am able to support myself in the University, sometimes having to work at odd hours but still able to maintain excellent performance as indicated by goods grades in school. It was a natural progression to follow my passion for IT, and pursue leadership roles within this field. In school was soon named one of the youngest IT club Director a position with international appeal and enabled me to meet best student from other colleges and even expert practitioners from all over the world during our trips and symposia. After spearheading transformations like redesigning the college’s registration program and rehabilitating the once-dysfunctional culture of having to follow a very long protocol, I yearned for bigger challenges with global impact after I graduate. The better way to achieve this is to increase my knowledge further. I know I will be able to do this is considered for the PhD curriculum in Computing and information Technology.
My country is developing at a considerable faster rate in the field of IT and I wish to present my application to pursue a PhD degree from the DePaul University in Information technology. My areas of interest will be in the information sector particularly management information system (technology). This is because I believe that this sector is fittingly directed to my areas of academic prowess since it puts together the basic subjects in the field of science which include management science, information science and economics. I also believe that compared with most students of similar class I stand out having a wider perspective of the information technology sector, keen interest and acquaintance of knowledge, more welcoming to challenges and innovative and fresh ideologies and adept at comprehending complicated concepts and theory.
I also believe that my academic profile can totally attest to this showing the great amount of dedication I have to my college work and to my unwavering interests in IT. my overall GPA of 3.55 ranking at about 4 percent of the entire students in my class, having passed the Band IV of the English Proficiency test at the University with straight A I believe I will do the school much prod if granted the opportunity. In general I have been able to excel in mathematics, and have also found some interest in management science, financial management and more strongly the management information systems.
