Culture and the Print Media (Books, Newspapers, and Magazines)
Technology has enabled media to be an important first hand influence on understanding and the opinions in this world of industrialization. Print media can be used to explain the impact it has had on American popular culture. The first American print media only dealt with publishing of religious books during the colonial times. Mrs. Glover publishing was one of the print media production companies in the 1940s based in Massachusetts collage of Harvard.
Other publications that followed the religious books included almanacs, magazines and newspapers. Benjamin Franklin publications were the first to attract a large audience Richard Almanac is one of the non-religious book which offered farming tips, moral advice, maxims and amusements to large population of the American people.
By the start of the twentieth centaury most Americans were very literate who could afford to buy magazines and luxurious print materials at a cheaper price than before. New genres of print materials include digests, magazines, pictorial magazines and news magazines. Freedom of expressions wide the topics to be discuses in these print Media. Social acceptability began to be pushed by pulp fiction of the twentieth centaury. This included stories on romance, police and crime magazines, fanatic, science fiction and scandals (Straubhaar, LaRose and Davenport, pp 66).
Media print material is read the power of ideologies which are homorganic is evident. There is the creation of the ‘other’ by use of stereotypic expression used by the author. Black women writers have for example have separated themselves from the large social system. They have presented an imaginative construction, social condition and critical interpretation of a black woman.
Studies on media and culture use social artifact in the critical interpretations of social relation, consumption, and distribution.
Through printed media readers are able to see images clearly which are aspects that enable changes in the world. Experiences underwent by a groups of people can be reexamined through print text. These has can be recorded into paper. Print media has enabled global awareness through the cross culture understanding, acceptance and tolerance of cultural, ethnic, social and genders difference in the community.
Through print media attitudes have been changed. Cultures and everyday life is changed as results of print media. Consumerism trend has also been affected by print media. Citizens are more informed on products available in the market including their prices through print media.
Media literacy is associated with culture as well as popular culture. Online scholarly publishes and print has provided convergence which is a much tighter synergy of the pasts industries between information and knowledge, popular culture, consumerism, communication, education and entertainment. Consumer fests have been made possible through knowledge, connectivity, consumption, information and pop culture.
All these aspects combine to become a common market denominator. Cultural, politics and social issues are currently at stake because of information revolution which also includes social relations, communication process and structures, privatization, reorganization and the knowledge of the public to show a shift to cybetextuality from print (C. Luke, 2000).
About 58 million print materials are sold to American citizen each day. Prints media in America is mainly controlled by the Jews. The entailment print media has made efforts in persuading the population that homosexuality as a pop culture is a normal way of life which should be accepted.
Such a poplar culture goes against the values of American. Advertising has created consumerisms. A large population of Americans tries to fit into the predetermined molds, within cultural, physical and economical modes.
Many Americans of the White race are making efforts to create new media but under the control of the Jewish. It is important to take the responsibility to break the falsehood that print media has impacted in the society. Evil power like the aspect of homosexuality should be stopped from contaminating the American souls and minds.
This is because by permitting the Jews to control American entertainment and news, they are gaining more influential power and government control. Such influence affects the soul and minds of American children as well as our attitudes which are negatively changed.
Print media affects the trend of culture in modern America. Traditional culture is left out as people embrace the global culture advertised by the print media. Many developed countries like America are entrenched in consumerism leading to the trend of pollution which is a major issue. This happens as the population is driven by the desire to consume unnecessary materials leading to waste.
A third destructive trend of mass print media is advertising of propaganda through the use of print media. Human mind and epic probation begin to be influenced by mass media. Individual begin to question their relationships with parents, friends and spouses leading to low self esteem and sometimes depression (Bhattacharya, 2003).
